Jill Jagmin (She/Her)

MA, LPC
EMDR trained

It is both an honor and a privilege for me to accompany clients on their inward journey toward healing, growth, and self-compassion. I firmly believe in the fundamental connection that exists between the mind, body, and spirit. Neglecting any aspect of our holistic self means overlooking the abundant wisdom that resides within each of us. Throughout our time together, we will delve into the intricate interplay between thoughts and emotions. Drawing from mindfulness-based techniques, somatic experiencing, Person-Centered therapy, and Internal Family Systems principles, we will explore this connection and often the disconnection that occurs.

My therapeutic approach is founded upon collaboration, warmth, gentle challenges, and shared laughter. I hold the firm belief that therapy is tailored to your unique needs and experiences. Together, we will identify the methods that best nurture your personal growth. This could involve deciphering the significance of your favorite song, constructing pro/con lists, embracing moments of silence, or creating a secure space for you to vocalize thoughts you’ve never before articulated.

My dedication extends to various areas that resonate with me, such as LGBTQ+ matters, navigating religious deconstruction and reconstruction, addressing religious trauma, managing sexual shame and trauma, exploring identity formation, cultivating self-esteem, enhancing communication within relationships, and navigating life’s transitional phases.

Educational and Work Background

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. After working in ministry as an Alumni and Development Coordinator, I found a special interest in religious deconstruction and religious trauma which informed my decision to pursue my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Seminary of the Southwest here in Austin.

Hobbies or Personal Interests

Outside of work, you can find me hanging out at Barton Springs swimming and reading sapphic romance novels, jogging around Lady Bird Lake, taking painting classes at Laguna Gloria, cooking a new recipe from Half Baked Harvest, grabbing a cold beer or an old fashioned with friends at a dive bar, taking a yoga class, and dancing to live music around town!

Why Did you Become a Therapist?

While working a nonprofit job, I realized that the parts of my job I loved the most weren’t necessarily a part of my job description. When people came into my office to share their struggles transitioning into adulthood, choosing a career path, exploring romantic relationships, or deconstructing their beliefs, my world lit up! In conjunction with my own powerful experiences in therapy, I learned the value of having a judgment-free space to process life’s many obstacles, feel validated in one’s emotions, and learn tools to find strength and give self-compassion.
