Jourdan Bartels (She/Her)

MA, LPC-Associate

Hi there!

I’m Jourdan (she/her), and I’m absolutely thrilled to have you here. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I operate under the supervision of Jennifer Williams Buffalo, MA, LPC-S, LMFT.

In my practice, my primary goal is to foster genuine connections with clients and provide a transformative and reparative experience. Clients can expect lots of compassion from me and some lightheartedness and playfulness, too. I see therapy as a collaboration: clients bring their expertise on their life and experience, and I bring my expertise on therapeutic tools and mental health knowledge.

For me, healing emerges from the relationships we build and the self-compassion we cultivate. I’m dedicated to meeting you where you are, while always working within a trauma-informed, relational, feminist-multicultural framework. This means acknowledging all aspects of your being, and recognizing the impact of external and systemic influences on their journey through life.

My clinical background and passions revolve around supporting the LGBTQ+ community, addressing relationship dynamics and changes, nurturing self-compassion, and tackling feelings of shame. I frequently draw upon techniques rooted in relational-cultural therapy, interpersonal process, interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Every facet of you holds worth, value, and the right to care and understanding. It’s a continual honor for me to sit with clients as they navigate their experiences, needs, and emotions in their raw authenticity. I’m eager to embark on this journey of growth and healing alongside you.

To initiate a complimentary, commitment-free, 30-minute consultation, where we can explore if we’re the right fit, please don’t hesitate to contact me through the form below.

A Word from your Therapist

I see my clients as whole, complex individuals, deserving of a safe space to find clarity, receive support, and explore new ways of being and interacting with the world. I understand that trust is earned, and that process takes time – my hope is that, by creating shared safety and trust, my clients don’t have to guess if I will affirm their identity, believe their stories of abuse or oppression, or otherwise support them. Whether it’s navigating relationship difficulties, life transitions, identity exploration, or mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, we can work together to find what works for you to integrate more helpful and authentic ways of being.

Educational and Work Background

I earned my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Diversity Studies from Texas State University, and my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University. As a graduate student, I saw clients at the TWU Counseling Center and at a private practice focused on serving the LGBTQ+ community, sex workers, and artists.
