Kelly Signer (She/They)

MA, LPC-Associate
EMDR Trained
Group Counseling Services Coordinator

Hello there!

I’m Kelly (she/they). I’m a therapist who approaches our work with a blend of warmth, curiosity, and compassion. At the core of my practice is a person-centered, trauma-informed, and social justice framework. I weave cognitive (thought-based) and somatic (body-based) interventions into our sessions, drawing from my scientific/research-based background as well as my creative/spiritual side to create a well-rounded therapeutic experience.

This isn’t just a job for me—it’s my passion. I have a special affinity for working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and my expertise lies in grief counseling.

In our shared space, my goal is to forge a strong, trusting relationship with you—one built on safety and mutual understanding. You won’t find judgment or unwarranted assumptions here. Instead, I hold firm to the belief that beneath any layers of outdated programming lies your most genuine, wise Self. Our collaboration will gently unravel these layers, allowing us to rewrite the story of your life.

Within this nurturing environment, you’re encouraged to explore and process deep emotions like fear, shame, and grief. Rather than avoiding these emotions, we’ll navigate them together. With grounding exercises, open conversation, humor, and perhaps even movement or art, we’ll embark on a transformative journey of healing.

If any of this resonates with you, I invite you to reach out and schedule a complimentary 30-minute consultation. Let’s determine if our paths align for this therapeutic journey. Taking this step might be daunting, but guess what? You’re already on your way.

Personal Identities

I identify as a queer, non-binary, white-bodied American with European ancestry, able-bodied, neurodivergent, atheist (but grew up Presbyterian), and spiritual.

Educational and Work Background

I graduated from The University of Florida with my BA in Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience and from CU Denver with my MA in Multicultural Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I also have worked at university counseling centers, hospitals, hospices, and crisis lines.

Hobbies or Personal Interests

My favorite way to spend time is in nature – gardening, swimming, hiking, and observing wildlife. I am an introvert, and I enjoy being at home playing cozy video games, doing all types of arts and crafts, and hanging out with my wife, my dog, and my cat. When I’m out and about, I enjoy dancing to EDM and singing karaoke.

Why Did you Become a Therapist?

I worked for a non-profit in college that provided peer support to teens and young adults with chronic and terminal illnesses; I saw firsthand how authentic human connection and support made a huge difference in the health outcomes of patients. I realized how creating safe spaces for others to question everything and express themselves filled me with a sense of purpose like nothing else. I made it my passion and profession, and my love of this work has only grown since!
